East Side Ends Season at Milford; Coach Apicella Honored
Milford, MA --- Dan Mantoni batted 4-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored to help lift Milford Post 59 past East Side Post 201 by
a score of 9-2 in a Massachusetts American Legion Zone 4 matchup on Tuesday night at Fino Field.
East Side (9-15) and Milford (16-7) took the opportunity to honor Joe Apicella, Post 201's first base coach, as both benches gave
Coach Apicella a standing ovation when he was picked up with two outs in the top of the seventh. Coach Apicella, who grew up just
outside Fino Field, began his coaching career 49 years ago as the skipper for Post 59. Read more about Coach Apicella in this article

While Milford scored a pair of runs in four of the first five innings, Post 201 plated two runs in the top of the fifth as Matt
Kachadoorian drew a bases-loaded walk and Erik Lacaire used an RBI single to drive in T.J. Cameroyt.
Kachadoorian finished with two walks as Camoreyt, PJ Barry, Lacaire and Pat Gallagher each had a hit for East Side. Jonathan
Gonzalez shared the mound with Kachadoorian and Nick Cardillo.
Mantoni, who was a home run short of a cycle, went 0-for-3 (two Ks) with a walk in the first meeting between the two squads back
on June 16. Joe White also had three RBI and a run scored as he had a 2-for-4 night at the dish. Matt Decina was 2-for-3 with three
runs scored while Brendan Pounds walked twice. Kevin Lynch tossed 4 2/3 allowing two runs - zero earned - on four hits and five
walks while striking out one. Dan Avery and Alex Croteau combined to strike out five in the balance of the contest.
The game marked the end of the American Legion Baseball careers for T.J. Camoreyt (Worcester State), Dezi Garcia (Worcester
State) and Matt Kachadoorian (Fitchburg State). It also marked the end of the road for three-year Raider Steve Albert who heads to
St. Joseph's (ME) this fall.
Milford resumes a suspended home game on Wednesday against Framingham at 7pm.
