Barry Helps Boost Post 201 Past Sturbridge
Fiskdale, MA --- PJ Barry raced home on an inside the park home run in the first inning and delivered what proved to be the
game-winning run, in the form of an RBI double, in the fourth as East Side Post 201 defeated host Sturbridge Post 109, 18-5, in six
innings on Tuesday evening at Tantasqua Regional High School.
Barry went 2-for-4 with a walk, three RBI and three runs scored. Dezi Garcia was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBI and three
runs scored while Matt Kachadoorian (double, 3 RBI, run) and Nick Cardillo (double, 2 run, RBI) also went 2-for-4. T.J.
Camoreyt batted 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Jonathan Gonxales drew a pair of walks for East Side. Cardillo allowed five
runs - two earned - on eight hits and struck out four as he improved to 3-1.
Brady Ravenelle (3-for-3, 2 doubles) accounted for three of Sturbridge's eight hits. Kody Murphy tripled and reached on a walk.
Andy Berg shouldered the decision and shared the mound with Chris Cutroni and Edwin Deleon.
East Side dented the scoreboard first as Barry rounded the bases following a hit to deep center field. Post 201 added two more in the
second on back-to-back RBI singles by Cardillo and Garcia.
Sturbridge grabbed two back in the home half of the second as Brennon McMullen singled in Murphy and Dean Morin scored on a
balk. Post 109 took the 4-3 lead with two more in the third. Ravenelle scored on a miscue and Charley Murray crossed home plate on
Murphy's RBI triple.
The Raiders exploded for seven in the top of the fourth. Garcia plated
Gonzalez on an RBI fielder's choice and Cardillo came home
courtesy of an RBI ground out by Camoreyt. Barry followed with an RBI double. Murphy later scored on an overthrow following a
stolen base. Jono Crimmin touched home on a miscue put into play by Erik Lacaire. Lacaire then came home on an RBI single by
Post 109 plated its final run in the bottom of the fourth as Alex Augustine drove in Ian Wetherbee with a two-out ground-rule
double to right center. Two more Raiders scored on a miscue put into play by Camoreyt in the fifth.
East Side added six more runs in the top of the sixth highlighted by a 3-RBI double by Crimmin.
Post 201 (7-10) hosts a doubleheader on Wednesday night at The Lake beginning with a 5:30pm matchup with Framingham. Game
two will feature East Side and Leominster at approximately 7:30pm. Sturbridge (4-15) welcomes Grafton Hill for a 5:30 game, also
