League-Leading Grafton Hill Holds Off East Side
Worcester, MA --- Ryan Ward went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, a walk, RBI and a run scored as Zone 4-leading
Grafton Hill Post 323 held off East Side Post 201 by a score of 5-4 on Sunday night at Tivnan Field.
East Side was led by Erik Lacaire with a 3-for-4 night, two RBI and a run scored. T.J. Camoreyt reached four times on two walks, a
hit by pitch and a single to left. Steve Albert went the distance for the Red and Black yielding five runs - three earned - on eight hits
and striking out seven.
Josh Riley joined Ward in the multi-hit club with a 2-for-3 outing, two RBI and a run scored. Nick Johnson allowed four runs on six
hits and fanned five over six innings. Jorge Grullon collected the save.
Grafton Hill scored a run in each of the first five innings. Ward's double in the first produced the initial Post 323 tally. Riley doubled
to center in the second for the 2-0 lead.
Matt Kachadoorian used an RBI ground out to plate Camoreyt to cut the deficit in half in the top of the third. Grafton Hill grabbed
the run back in the home half of the inning as Ryan Belinskas drove in Ward with a two-out single to left center.
Jackson Vail added to Post 323's lead in the fourth as he singled down the left field line to score Riley.
East Side plated two in the fifth courtesy of RBI singles to short by Lacaire and Jono Crimmin. In the bottom of the frame, Riley used
a single to short to produce what proved to be the game-winning run.
Post 201 got within one on a single up the middle by Lacaire in the seventh. Brandan Kelley, running for Sean Murphy, was erased at
the plate on a fielder's choice put into play by Crimmin. Crimmin then stole second as a pair of Raiders were in scoring position;
however, a swinging strikeout ended the game.
East Side (4-7) travels to Northbridge for a 5:30 game at the middle school on Monday. Grafton Hill (9-1) hosts Cherry Valley at
