Four-Run Northbridge Seventh Dooms Raiders
Worcester, MA ---Northbridge Post 343 scored four runs in the top of the seventh en route to a 5-2 victory over host East Side Post
201 on Sunday night in a Massachusetts American Legion Zone 4 showdown at Tivnan Field.
Down 2-1 heading into the seventh, Post 343 evened the game as Tyler Girouard scampered home on a wild pitch. Corey Giguere
crossed the plate on an infield fly to short to put the guests 3-2. Tyler Galimi doubled and Matt Nichols lifted a sacrifice fly to right
as Northbridge took the 5-2 advantage into the bottom of the frame. With two outs, Jono Crimmin singled up the middle as Matt
Kachadoorian and Dezi Garcia walked to load the bases. The game then ended with a strikeout looking.
Northbridge capitalized in the first with an unearned run as Teddy Carey reached on an infield miscue and eventually crossed home
plate following a failed pickoff attempt.
Crimmin drove in the first East Side run in the third with a single to left field. Kachadoorian followed with an unconventional 1-6-3
ground out to chase home Nate Frederick for the 2-1 lead.
The game remained in Post 201's favor until the guests outburst in the seventh.
Sean Murphy, Erik Lacaire and Crimmin each batted 2-for-4 while Frederick walked twice. Steve Albert (1-1) allowed one
unearned run on four hits and struck out two prior to Northbridge's spurt in the seventh.. Frederick came in to finish out the game for
Nichols and Dylan Jepson each went 2-for-3 for the guests while Tommy Sperino allowed two runs on six hits and stuck out five in
the win. Carey, who struck out two in the seventh, collected the save.
East Side entertains Milford on Monday night at 5pm at The Lake while Northbridge welcomes North County at 5:30pm.
