Shrewsbury's Early Seven Run Outburst Sinks East Side, 7-3

Shrewsbury, MA --- Host Shrewsbury struck for seven runs in the first inning ignite Post 397 to a 7-3 victory over East Side Post 201 in
a Massachusetts Zone 4 baseball contest played late Thursday afternoon.  With the result, Shrewsbury moves to 9-15 on the season while
the Raiders dip to 19-8 overall and 16-7 in zone play.

The visitors notched a pair of hits in the first inning but a line-drive double play thwarted a potential East Side uprising.

In the bottom of the frame, Post 397 parlayed six hits and three walks into an insurmountable 7-0 advantage.
Jay Reynolds got the
scoring going with a RBI double to left and came home two batters later on a single off the bat off
Mike Coggeshall.  Following a walk,
Nick Sieber delivered a run-scoring single and after another free pass, Kevin Quinlivan laced a two-run double to right center to make it
5-0.  Shrewsbury closed out the rally with a run on an error and a
Micah Cummins RBI single to center.

East Side, who was never retired in order, rallied with run via a
Brandon O’Connor RBI ground out and a pair of unearned runs in the
seventh highlighted by
Jonathan Gonzalez run batted in.  The Raiders, paced by three hits by Cam Frederick and two base knock by
Jimmy Smith, actually out-hit Shrewsbury 11-10 but were stymied by 12 runners left on base during the seven-inning affair.

Jeff Svendsen went the distance on the mound for Post 397 to improve to 3-1.  He allowed just one earned run and fanned three.  East
Side’s
Regan Aghdam settled down after the rocky first to toss three scoreless frames while Gonzalez chipped in with two shutout innings
of relief.

Dan Quinlivan and Cummins both registered a pair of hits for Posy 397.

The Raiders return to action with a split doubleheader on Saturday.  East Side heads to Wachusett at 11am before facing Milford at 7pm
at The Lake.  Shrewsbury ventures to Northbridge on Friday for a 5:30pm tilt.
