East Side Stunned by Main South

Worcester, MA --- Colin Fitzgerald had a no-hitter broken up after 4 1/3 while all nine Main South Post 341 starters recorded a hit -
seven with two or more - in a 17-5 triumph over host East Side Post 201 in an American Legion Zone 4 Baseball game on Sunday night.

Main South (9-13) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an infield single by
Tom Petry. Post 201 (18-6, 15-5 Zone 4) quickly pushed
ahead with three runs in the home half of the stanza.
Jonathan Gonzalez tied the game when he was plunked with the bases loaded. An
infield miscue  on a ball put into play
by Jono Crimmin enabled Joe Consolmagno and Jimmy Smith to score as East Side held a 3-1
advantage.

After a pair of scoreless innings, Post 341 exploded for seven runs in the fourth.  The frame was highlighted by a two-run double by Bob
Lyons.

In the bottom of the fifth, Crimmin drove in Consolmagno on a single to center field to make it an 8-4 ballgame.

Main South erupted for nine more in the seventh. Petry doubled in two while
Cam Murphy plated two on a single down the left field line.

Consolmagno pushed his hitting streak to 14 games with a solo home run to open the bottom of the seventh.

Jon Roy led Main South with three hits while Murphy, Petry, Mark Brousseau, John Jakaitus, Lyons and Nick DeMauro each recorded
a pair of safeties.

Fitzgerald earned the victory and was relieved by Petry for the final two and two-thirds. The duo combined to fan 13 batters.

Pat Gallagher (1-1) shared duties with
Jeremy Blake-Johnson and Sean Murphy.

Post 201 travels to Auburn on Tuesday for a 7pm game. Main South hosts Leominster tomorrow at 5:30.
