Raiders Nine-Game Streak Snapped in National Bound State Tournament Title Tilt

Worcester, MA --- East Side Post 201 came up short in the 2013 Massachusetts American Legion Baseball National Bound State
Tournament title game as Barnstable Post 206 claimed its second consecutive crown, and snapped the Raiders second nine-game winning
streak of the season, with an 8-6 victory on Saturday night at Fitton Field.

East Side (18-5), the 2011 state champion, will join Barnstable (19-2) in the Northeast Regional due to a change in regional alignments
that moved New York to the Mid-Atlantic allowing two Massachusetts teams to advance per the number of teams sponsored (junior teams
+ senior teams). Massachusetts jumped New Jersey as the state with the fifth-most teams due to the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy.

Until the two teams head to Middletown, CT for the double-elimination regional tournament on August 7 (play begins on August 8), East
Side is slated to finish out the Zone 4 slate which wraps up on Sunday, July 20.

Joe Consolmagno (13 games) and Jimmy Smith (10 games)  continued their respective hitting streaks while they also have recorded
multiple hits each in the past four outings. Smith led the way with an eye-popping 5-for-6 night with two runs scored while
Consolmagno was 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored.
Brandon O'Connor drew three of East Side's six walks and Nate
Frederick
batted 2-for-5.

For Barnstable,
Jack Harrington finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Everett Walsh, Mark Brodd and Dylan Morris each
pitched in with a double. Morris drove in two while he and Brodd each crossed home plate twice.

Both teams used five pitchers.
Peter Bovenzi, Cam Frederick, Regan Aghdam, Erik Lacaire and Tim Brutto took the mound for East
Side. Bovenzi shouldered the loss while Cam Frederick and Lacaire each tossed a scoreless two-thirds of a frame. Brutto struck out one in
an inning for Post 201. As a staff, the Raiders struck out six and walked eight. Barnstable used
Riley Ashe, Chris Fowler (win), Connor
Walsh
, Spencer McCaffrey and Everett Walsh (save).

East Side began the scoring with an unearned run in the second when
Jack Riley scored following a miscue on a ball put into play by
Consolmagno. The Raiders added another tally in the third courtesy of an Aghdam sacrifice fly that plated Nate Frederick.

Barnstable pulled ahead with a four-run outburst in the bottom of the third. Morris and McCaffrey drew bases loaded walks while
Derek
Estes
and Harrington connected on RBI singles as Post 206 claimed a 4-2 advantage.

Post 201 grabbed a run back in the top of the fourth as Consolmagno plated Smith on a double to right.

Barnstable made it a 5-3 ballgame in the sixth when Harrington scampered home on a wild pitch. Post 206 tacked on three more tallies in
the seventh. Brodd and Morris stroked back-to-back doubles and
Dan Walsh singled up the middle. Harrington lifted a sacrifice fly to
right to make it 8-3 in favor of Barnstable.

The Raiders answered with three of their own in the top of the eighth. Brutto and O'Connor each singled in a run and Aghdam plated
Brutto with a sacrifice fly to right.

In the ninth, Smith reached on a one-out bunt single and Consolmagno singled through the left side before a pair of line outs sealed Post
201's fate.

For the game, the Raiders had a 13-8 advantage in the hit column but left 16 runners stranded to Barnstable's eight.

East Side returns to Zone 4 action with a 7:30pm home game against Main South tomorrow night at The Lake. Barnstable heads to
Brockton for a 5pm Zone 10 matchup, also on Sunday.
