Raiders Streak Ends With 2-1 Setback at Northboro

Northboro, MA --- Matt Doyle fired a two-hitter and struck out six while Mike Stamas went 2-for-3 with a run scored and the
go-ahead RBI walk as Northboro Post 234 ended East Side Post 201's nine-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory in an American
Legion Zone 4 tilt on Wednesday evening at Memorial Field. Northboro improved to 4-6 while the Raiders slipped to 9-4 as the teams
split the regular season home-and-home series. East Side claimed the First 13 matchup, 11-1, this past Friday in a six-inning game at
Tivnan Field at Lake Park.

Doyle rebounded from a rough start in the earlier meeting in which he allowed eight runs - five earned - on six hits with five walks in four
and a third innings.

Mark McCauley and Luke Serra each recorded a hit and walked once. Jack Henningson added an RBI while John Stanton represented
the game-winning run. In all, Northboro drew eight walks and was hit by a pitch twice.

Regan Aghdam was tagged with the loss as he was charged with the go-ahead run in one and a third innings of relief. Peter Bovenzi
made his second start and surrendered one run - zero earned - on three hits and struck out two in the first four and a third.
Tim Brutto
issued a free pass in the final third of an inning.

Joe Consolmagno and Nate Frederick each singled for Post 201 as Frederick drove in Brandon O'Connor for the lone East Side tally.

After a scoreless first, O'Connor reached on a wild pitch despite striking out and moving to second on a throwing miscue. A line out to
right field by Zach Zona moved him to third to set the stage for Frederick's infield RBI single that took a bad hop.

Northboro evened the contest when Henningson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the third. Post 234 had a chance to score
during the previous at-bat when Serra took off for home on a passed ball; however, O'Connor and Bovenzi teamed to erase the runner.

The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 until Stamas drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth for what proved to be the game-winning run.

East Side closes out its First 13 slate this weekend beginning with a 7:00 Tivnan Field showdown against Grafton Hill. Northboro
entertains Sturbridge for a First 13 game tomorrow at 5:30.
