Post 201 Blanks North County, 5-0
Worcester, MA --- Jack Riley struck out nine in a complete game shutout as host East Side Post 201 blanked North County Post 129,
5-0, in an American Legion Zone 4 Baseball matchup on Monday night at Tivnan Field at Lake Park. The Raiders extend their winning
streak to four games and are one game above .500 (4-3) overall and 4-2 in First 13 games while North County slips to 1-3 on the season
and in First 13 play.
Riley (1-0) scattered four hits over seven innings and issued a trio of free passes in his first decision of the 2013 campaign. At the plate,
Peter Bovenzi went 2-for-2 with a run scored and Cam Frederick finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Nate Frederick added
a home run and Tim Brutto (two-RBI) hit his fourth double of the season.
Mitch Ryan accounted for two of Post 129's four hits and was joined in the by Tim McHugh and Andrew Polcari. Scott Favreau began
the game on the hill for North County and was relieved by Ryan after four and a third.
Nate Frederick cranked a 1-1 offering to left center to give the Raiders the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. East Side added a pair of
tallies in the fifth behind Brutto's RBI double and a bases loaded free pass issued to Jimmy Smith. Cam Frederick connected n a
run-producing single to left and Brutto followed with a sacrifice fly to center as Post 201 made it a 5-0 ballgame in the sixth.
East Side will enjoy an off day before concluding its five-game homestand on Wednesday when Sturbridge is in town for a 7pm tilt.
North County also returns to action on Wednesday with a 5:30 appointment at Main South.
