

Thursday, July 22nd Post 201 defeated in Bracket A Final East Longmeadow, MA --- East Side Post 201 saw its 2010 campaign come to a close on Thursday afternoon at the hands of East Longmeadow in an 8-5 defeat in the Central-Western State Sectional final at East Longmeadow High School. East Side finishes its season at 24-6 while East Longmeadow (20-2) has advanced to the Department (State) Playoffs that begin on Saturday at Campinelli Stadium in Brockton. Chris Creen (solo home run) and Ysander Figueroa (RBI triple, 2-run home run) played well in the loss. The game marked the last American Legion baseball game for Matt Ball, Creen, Shane Keddy, Brian Reynolds, and Shane Sampson. BOX SCORE Wednesday, July 21st Mother Nature postpones Bracket A Final East Longmeadow, MA --- Afternoon thunderstorms and downpours that swept through the Springfield area forced the postponement of the Bracket A Central- Western State Sectional final between East Side Post 201 and East Longmeadow on Wednesday. The game has been rescheduled for Thursday at 4:00 pm at East Longmeadow High School. Tuesday, July 20th East Side 10, East Longmeadow 7 (at Bullens Field, Westfield) Westfield, MA --- East Side Post 201 forced a deciding game tomorrow afternoon by rallying again, this time coming back from a 6-4 deficit in the ninth inning to win 10-7 over West top seed East Longmeadow in the Central-Western State Sectional playoffs on Tuesday evening. Shane Keddy's bases-clearing double highlighted a 6-run uprising in the ninth inning that transformed a 6-4 deficit into a 10-6 lead. Post 201 (24-5) then staved off an East Longmeadow rally in the bottom half of the ninth to force a winner-take-all game tomorrow at 4:00 pm at East Longmeadow High School. John Boyd pitched the last two innings to earn the win. BOX SCORE Tuesday, July 20th East Side 6, Westfield 4 (at Bullens Field, Westfield) Westfield, MA --- East Side Post 201 rallied from an early 3-2 deficit to eliminate West three seed Westfield, 6-4, on Tuesday afternoon in the Central-Western State Sectional playoffs. East Side (23-5) will now have to beat West top seed East Longmeadow twice, tonight at 7:20 pm and tomorrow at a time and location to be announced, to advance to the State Tournament. Steve Flynn registered a two-out two-run broken (aluminum) bat single that bounced over the shortstop to tie the score at 4-4 in the seventh inning. Shane Sampson then delivered a two-out two-run single up-the-middle to propel East Side to a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Perez worked the final two innings to record his team- leading sixth win of the season. BOX SCORE Monday, July 19th Raiders Begin Trek Back Through Loser’s Bracket Worcester, MA --- Kyle Brenner tossed seven strong innings and the trio of Shane Keddy, Chris Creen and Bryan Perez combined for 8 RBI to help East Side defeat visiting Northampton in a loser’s bracket contest in Bracket A of the Central-Western State Sectionals. Post 201 (22-5) rallied back from 3-0 deficit in top of the first inning by tallying three in the bottom of the frame and five more in the second. East Side heads to Bullens Field in Westfield on Tuesday for day three of the Sectionals. They will face Westfield (16-5) at 4pm with the winner slated to take on East Longmeadow at 7pm. A pair of wins by East Side on Tuesday would set-up a winner- take-all contest on Wednesday with East Longmeadow. Sunday, July 18th East Side falls in Sectional opener Worcester, MA --- East Side Post 201 opened Central-Western State Sectional Bracket A action on Sunday night with a 5-3 defeat to visiting and West third seed Westfield (16-4) at Tivnan Field at Lake Park. East Side (21-5) will now host Northamption, who lost to top seed East Longmeadow, 11-9 in 11 innings earlier in the day, at 5:00 pm on Monday afternoon at Clark University (please note site change) in an elimination game. Post 201 will need to eliminate Northampton to stay alive in Bracket A and face the East Longmeadow/Westfield loser on Tuesday. BOX SCORE Saturday, July 17th East Side to host Westfield Worcester, MA --- East Side Post 201 now knows who they will host on Sunday -- Western #3 seed Westfield Post 124. The first game of the Central-Western State Sectionals is slated for a 7:00 pm start at Tivnan Field at Lake Park. Westfield (15-4) advanced to the State Sectionals by sweeping 8th seeded Ludlow in the Western Mass District playoffs. The East Side/Westfield winner will play the East Longmeadow/Northampton winner at a site and time to be determined on Monday. Wednesday, July 14th East Side takes Bracket A title to Sectionals Worcester, MA --- East Side scored six runs over the first three innings and got superb pitching from Shane Sampson and Bryan Perez as Post 201 defeated Main South, 7-2, to take the District 4 Bracket A Championship at Tivnan Field at Lake Park on Wednesday afternoon. The Raiders (21-4) advance to the Central-Western Mass. State Sectional playoffs (double elimination) that begin on Sunday, July 18th and will be the District 4 second seed. They will host the Western Mass. third seed at a time to be announced on Sunday. BOX SCORE Tuesday, July 13th Rain postpones Bracket A Championship round Worcester, MA --- Tonight's Main South at East Side District 4 playoff game at Tivnan Field at Lake Park has been postponed due to rain. The Bracket A championship game has been rescheduled for 5:00 pm on Wednesday, July 14th. If Main South, which advanced after defeating Wachusett earlier (14-5), defeats East Side in game 1, the "if necessary" game will follow shortly afterward. Monday, July 12th -- District 4 playoffs (Bracket A, Game 4) Perez leads Post 201 to championship round Worcester, MA --- Bryan Perez used his bat and his arm to help East Side defeat Wachusett 5-3 in the winner’s bracket championship game of Bracket A of the District 4 playoffs. Perez tallied 3 RBI, including the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth inning, and tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to notch his third straight mound victory. The Raiders (20-4) advance to Tuesday’s championship round where they will host the Main South-Wachusett winner (5pm) at 7:30pm at Tivnan Field at Lake Park. BOX SCORE Sunday, July 11th -- District 4 playoffs (Bracket A, Game 1) Consolmagno, East Side squeeze by West Boylston Worcester, MA --- Joe Consolmagno's perfect squeeze bunt in the bottom of the seventh inning scored winning pitcher Bryan Perez from third base as second seeded East Side Post 201 opened the 2010 District 4 playoffs with a 7-6 victory over ninth seeded West Boylston on Sunday night at Tivnan Field at Lake Park. The Raiders clawed its way back from an early 3-0 deficit to take a 6-4 lead in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Ysander Figueroa (3-for-3, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, run). However, West Boylston rallied for two runs in the seventh to tie the game at 6-6 before Consolmagno's heroics in the bottom half of the inning. Regan Aghdam (3-for-3), Shane Keddy (2-for- 4, 2B, run), and Perez (2-for-4, RBI, 2 runs) also chipped in the Raider offense. East Side (19-4) advances to the winner's bracket and face fifth seeded Wachusett on Monday night at 7:00 pm at Tivnan Field.
